Mother's Day done and dusted ! Now looking forward to Easter.

We, at Classic Flowers are looking forward to 2018. After a few trial plantings last year we will be increasing our flower range this year. Look out for new varieties from late Spring onwards. This year we did  not plant Lilies through  Autumn/early winter, seasonal low light levels have meant poor quality and many "blind" blooms over past years, but our first bulbs will be planted 2nd week of January. 75% of our Carnations were replanted in the Autumn and will come into full production late Spring. New variety Freesia which we first planted 3 years ago have now bulked up and will start production early to mid February. Production in Gerberas has been increasing steadily and from Spring onwards we will be including them in our mixed bouquets. This time of year we also trawl through the seed catalogues trying to identify new varieties that have the qualities of good vase life and the ability to travel well. Growing is always a challenge, but one we enjoy to be able to supply you with probably some of the freshest blooms available.

Classic Flowers is proud to be associated with the St Pierre du Bois floral initiative. In 2009 winning a Gold award and the overall Guernsey winner in the Floral Guernsey Community award, a 2010 finalist in Britain in Bloom. And now a Gold Award winner in the National awards for Britain in Bloom. Well done St Pierre du Bois. To carry on the success in 2012 St Pierre du Bois was the overall Guernsey winner and won another gold in the 2013 National Britain in Bloom. The success continues, Gold again in 2014 and entry into the Britain in Bloom Final 2015. And yes, another gold medal and entry into the 2016 Champion of Champions.

The winner of the Classic Flowers, best business award for floral displays in 2017 is Beau Vallon Holiday Apartments. Well done Corrina and Natasha for an excellent floral display. Judges John Nicolle and Mary Snelling, seen below receiving a Classic Flowers thank you bouquet from member Bert Fallaize, had the difficult task of judging the top business floral display out of 10 entrants in the parish.
